Dearly Beloved,

Brahmawar Diocese of Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church is one of the most important Dioceses, primarily because of the presence of a Konkani speaking Orthodox Community, the successors of those steadfast believers who inherited Orthodoxy along with L.L Alwariz Mar Julius Metropolitan in the year 1889. Brahmawar diocese spreads across various parts of Kannur,Kasargod, Dakshin Kannada, Udipi,Chicamanglore, Mangalore, Goa, and  Abu Dhabi (UAE).

The purpose of the formation of the Diocese was to serve the spiritual needs of the members in this region with larger focus. Prayerful efforts are being carried to set up the Diocesan Head Quarters in the city of Mangalore on a piece of land owned by the Holy Church. It will be the spiritual abode for more than 10,000 Orthodox students studying in various institutions in and around Mangalore.

The St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Goa where the tomb of LL Alvarez Mar Julius Metropolitan is spreading the spiritual fragrance has to be developed as a pilgrim Centre. With the guidance of Holy Spirit, liturgical prayers and services are needed to be authentically translated into Konkani, Kannada and other local languages prominent in the region.
